Rivers’ poker room in Schenectady, New York was shut last year in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After staying shut for more than 17 months, the poker room reopens today with working hours 10 am to 2 am.
Rivers Poker Room Closed Back in March 2020
New York poker fans are in for a treat, after the Rivers Casino in Schenectady, New York revealed on Monday that it reopens its poker room today. The venue’s poker room was shut last year in March, at the start of the pandemic. Although the casino was closed as well, it was allowed to resum lodislot e operation in September under strict health and safety rules. However, despite the resume of business for Rivers Casino, its poker room remained shut for more than 17 months.
Shut for More than 17 Months, the Poker Room Reopens Today
In June this year, gambling venues in New York were allowed to lift COVID-related restrictions and resume operating at 100% capacity. Consequently, the Rivers Casino announced that it plans to reopen its poker room, but first it needed to fill a couple of positions.
Now, the poker room finally reopens doors today with working hours 10 am to 2 am. The poker room will offer multiple games on 16 tables. With that in mind, the operating hours of the casino itself are more than the poker room. The casino currently operates from 6 am to 2 am every day.
In a statement released on Monday, Rick Richards, the general manager of Rivers Casino said that the poker room is a big part of the venue’s exciting gaming experience. He added that Rivers “couldn’t be happier to reopen it for our guests.“
Rivers Casino Des Plaines Continues Work on Expansion
Besides in New York, there’s exciting news from Rivers Casino in Illinois. Rivers Casino Des Plaines announced on Monday that it celebrated placing the final structural beam of its expansion. The operator deemed that as an important milestone and said that it is now one step closer to offering an “even more exciting experience.”
The expansion of the venue will offer more space for slot machines, a poker room, as well as a new restaurant and event facility. The 78,000 square feet expansion has a price tag of $87 million and is expected to create some 400 workplaces.
